PEARLS: Facing Today's Giants, various authors.  The Prevent Disaster study series began as a workbook on health issues that potentially affected our youth such as drugs, alcohol and smoking.  It’s purpose was to prevent youth from doing harmful things to their bodies.

Event Details

Each year, on Easter weekend, churches of Christ gather together at  4 regional sites around the country to compete and show the skills that their youth have developed through the year. Lads to Leaders is about more than competition.  It is about developing leadership skills that benefit the kids not only in the Church, but also in their lives.  Kids get a chance to have experiences they may not otherwise and have an opportunity to earn scholarship money to attend Christian colleges.  Kids get a chance to exercise their unique gifts and talents in a wide variety of events.  These include various forms of art and media, speaking, singing, debate, Bible bowl, and written Bible tests, scripture memorization, public reading, puppeteering, and Christian service.   Competition is for 3rd Grade and above, but kids Kindergarten - 2nd and Special Needs may participate non-competitively.  Oak Hill Church of Christ attends the convention in Nashville, TN at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel.
